History
In the beginning...
St. Leonard's began as a daughter congregation of
Dunfermline Abbey at the end of the
nineteenth century. The congregation, gathered from a parish
around the local mills began worshipping in a corrugated metal
building on a site gifted by local mill owners.
In 1904 a new building designed by renowned Scottish
architect Peter MacGregor Chalmers and gifted by local mill
owners, David and Peter McLaren, was opened for worship. Over
the years halls have been added and remodelled to meet the
needs of our busy congregational life.
Today the congregation of St. Leonard's worship in our
beautiful Romanesque church and also in the local Pitcorthie
Community Centre.
Today...
Church is really about people - at St. Leonard's there's a
place for everyone. We're a church that's learning and growing
together.
Much more soon...
